How It Works

There are no preseason rankings. Every team in the FBS starts the season with 0 points.

After a game is played, the following points are calculated:

  1. The winner gets +100 points, while the loser will get -100 points
  2. Process the current matchup
    • If the opponent is an FCS team, the margin of victory is halved and added to the team's total points
    • If the opponent is an FBS team
      • Take the opponent's record and multiply it by 100. Add this to the team's total points
      • Take the opponent's record again and multiply it by the margin of victory. Add this to the team's total points.
        • If this is the first week, just use the MOV, since we don't have a record for the opponent yet
  3. If previous games have been played, go back and recheck on all of those opponents
    • If your past opponent was an FCS team, this is skipped
    • If your past opponent was an FBS team
      • Check your previous opponent's record up to the current week, minus the game against the current team, and multiply it by 50
      • Check their record again up to the current week, minus the game against the current team, and multiply it by the MOV of that game again, then multiply that by 0.25.
      • Add the two numbers together and multiply it by 0.1
      • Add that number to the total score
